Trek is a big bicycle company that started manufacturing frames in Waterloo, Wisconsin in 1976. The company now has 1,600 employees and more than 5,000 dealers in 75 countries. There was a nice 3rd party presentation on the virtues of a Cleverhood rain cape. Chances are it was raining.
Richard Burke was a founder of Trek and now his son John is president. They remain committed to "Made in the US" and make about 20,000 to 25,000 bikes in Waterloo.
Fun fact: Richard Burke wasn’t an avid biker. But he did run in five New York City Marathons and three Boston Marathons.
