Cleverhood To Demo Its Street Capes at Berliner Fahrrad Schau

Curated German Bike Show Reflects European Bike Culture Renaissance

PROVIDENCE  – Cleverhood, the new Rhode Island company with the outerwear for livable cities, announced it has been selected for exhibition at Berliner Fahrrad Schau (BFS). The international BFS is a professionally curated exhibition of the bicycle industry in the heart of Berlin near Potsdamer Platz. Cleverhood has been designated for the velo couture section, reflecting the fast-growing trends in style for city bike riders.

Berlin stands out in bike transportation, an increasingly important facet of modern, livable cities.  According to Berlin’s 2010 Mobility Report, Berliners made approximately 13 percent of all trips citywide on bikes (Portland leads the US at 6-8 percent). The city has made long-term investments in bicycling and is considered part of a “cycling renaissance.”

“Bikes are clean technology and we’d be remiss if our Cleverhood street capes did not offer advantages for city cyclers,” said Susan Mocarski, Head of Cleverhood.  “Next month we’ll be participating at the US National Bike Summit in Wash. DC and we’re particularly looking forward to being part of the new bike culture in Berlin.”

Inspired by the slow bike movement and urban sustainability efforts, the Cleverhood is a US-made garment of traditional style with modern features. Available in various styles all Cleverhoods offer hidden elastic thumb loops, reflectivity and other features for city biking.

The 4th BERLINER FAHRRAD SCHAU (BFS) will take place at the STATION-Berlin, the historic postal freight depot in the heart of Berlin near Potsdamer Platz on March 9 and 10. It is considered one of the most important trend fairs attracting 15,000 from Germany and abroad.

Based in Providence, Cleverhood LLC, is a small business that produces a special brand of outerwear that reflects an affirmation of American ingenuity, local places and solid reliability.
