Here's a Good Deal: April in Cleverhood

April is the traditional opening month for Spring. It's a noteworthy time for us here at the 'hood. As they say in Paris: Les pluies d'avril apportent les fleurs de mai. That's a good deal. Spring showers for May flowers, particularly after our long, winding winter here in New England.

April also means Earth Day, Arbor Day and Bicycle Day. There’s a significant relationship between sweet rain, nature and clean-energy. Science can back us up. Convert those variables into an equation and you'll notice that this planet is worth some serious consideration. Coincidentally, April is also our 6th Anniversary. Crunch the data, divide by National Grilled Cheese month, and you'll see that it all adds up to a good time for a sale* on our locally made rain capes.

And if data visualization is your thing, we encourage you to check out the results of Boston's Hubway bike-share Data Challenge. It's pretty remarkable to see what people have done with the data from 5 million bicycle trips in Bean Town. Some entries are beautiful, all are clever, and at least one is very funny. One team coded a visualization that expresses the carbon savings of biking in terms of how many trees it would take to generate the same savings. The MIT correlation to weather caught our eye. Vote on your favorites. We're proud to have been a sponsor of this effort, along with Microsoft, b.GoodGeneral Assembly, and Cambridge's iconic Club Passim.
