Rhode Island’s Cleverhood Recognized by International Jury at ISPO BRANDNEW

PROVIDENCE, RI (August 1, 2012) – Cleverhood, the Rhode Island small business with the distinctive rain cape, has been selected as a finalist by the world’s largest start-up competition in the sporting goods industry — ISPO BRANDNEW.  The international awards are focused on innovative products and the brands behind them.

In recognition of its selection, the Providence Company will be showcased in Munich, Germany at the international ISPO Bike exhibition. Inspired by the slow bike movement, the Cleverhood rain cape offers a unique combination of style and performance. For more than 10 years, ISPO BRANDNEW has been regarded as the barometer of future trends.

“Cleverhood was created for the urban explorer, which reflects our focus on performance with style,” said Susan Mocarski. “We’ve been inspired by advances in city biking and a greater appreciation of local resources. We’re so pleased to be recognized by ISPO’s international jury from the bike industry.”

The Cleverhood is stylish rain gear designed, crafted and manufactured in the U.S. It is made with waterproof, breathable membrane and has special features for city bikers. Beta tests were conducted with NYC bike messengers (see YouTube video) and Vice Magazine proclaimed that the ‘hood was so cool it “freaked us out.”  It has also been featured at bike shows in New York City, Portland and Seattle. Also this month Cleverhood visits the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City and appears at Styleweek Northeast in Providence.
