Cleverhood Fund Award

  • by John Coulbourn

Some time ago we launched the Cleverhood Fund to support the fight for safe streets and equitable transportation. For every garment we sell, we set aside a portion for the Fund.

Today, we want to introduce you to our first award recipient: Providence (PVD) Streets Coalition.

We’ve had our eyes on PVD Streets for some time. Like most of you, we live in a place where the streets are primarily designed for cars. Thanks to the grassroots efforts of PVD Streets, our city is opening up to the idea of a people-centered approach. Since 2019 they have developed coalitions, pushed developments and initiated programs that have noticeably improved the equity and sustainability of our capital city.

We’ve pledged $25,000 to their PVD Great Streets Campaign, which is aiming to, among other things, add 78 miles of urban trails to Providence streets.

If you’d like to come see it for yourself, consider a trip to the Ocean State. We’d love to show you around.

We applaud the work of street advocates wherever you are. Be sure to let us know who’s out there. Maybe they’ll be the next recipient of the Cleverhood Fund.
